IICFF hosts 4 Iran Films

4 Iranian films have been scheduled to go on screen at 14th Istanbul International Children Film Festival.

‘A Hell of a Wedding’ Directed by Reza Khatibi, ‘Houra’ directed by Gholamreza Sagharchian, ‘Soyuq’ by Ark brothers, and ‘The Pearl’ by Sirous Hassanpour will represent Iran at the event.

‘A Hell of a Wedding’ tells the story of a group of children who, at a wedding ceremony, learn that the groom's brother, that happens to be the organizer of the matrimony, is a dangerous drug lord. However, neither their parents nor the police come to believe the kids. They then decide to resolve the issue themselves by staying up that night, trying to get the drug dealer and his dumb assistants arrested.

‘Houra’ narrates the story of a country teenage boy, Hadi, who lives with his family somewhere on the rural railroad track connecting Tehran and Mashhad. Hadi tries to keep alive a garden, which is the only legacy of his mother's past.

‘Soyuq’ is about a family who has to change their home due to economic problems and their 8-year- old son faces difficulties because of being stressed out.

‘The Pearl’ narrates the story of Karim who is a pearl hunter in a southern Iranian town, but he can’t persevere as he's suffering from a heart disease. Following his doctor’s advice, Karim goes to a big city for medical diagnosis, and is advised that a surgery would be his only chance for survival. Trying to tackle his budget problem, his twelve-year-old son stands firm on going pearl hunting at the sea, despite his granddad’s disapproval.

Istanbul International Children Film Festival is held by Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV) which is a non-profit cultural institution.

It offers the audience examples of World Children's Cinema and children's films, aiming to bring children closer to culture and art, in an effort to create the cinema audience of the future.

The 14th edition of the event will be held September 22-24, 2017.
